My friend and I arrived at the venue around 5:30. We really wanted a good spot. Doors were at seven. Cooking under the sun for an hour and a half paid off in the end since we ended up at about the fifth row. It was exactly eye level to the stage. We had to wait another hour and a half for SoCo to get on stage.
When they finally got on, after what seemed like hours and hours, they jumped right into I Woke Up In A Car. After that, they played 21 and Invincible. There was a guy turning 21 standing at the front row, and I bet he got a real kick out of that song choice.
Even though they've been gone for a good five (long) years, the chemistry between the band is still evident. I just wish they'd put that to use and be back for good.
Outline of Clutch! He's a real funny guy when you talk to him. We met him briefly after the show. He was talking about how he wants Andrew to play Konstantine for him. He claims he begs for that every night by leaving a note on Andrew's nightstand every night with dragged out "Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeease's."
We were lucky enough to see them perform Walking By. Before they played it, Andrew told us how this was written for a girl that wouldn't have him. He told us how he recruited his hopeless romantic band mates to help him with this song so that he could get said girl. He concluded the story saying apparently, he'd done something right, because he ended marrying that girl. The crowd collectively cheered, of course, and I swear I spotted Kelly standing on the side of the stage.
I don't know what these two are doing, but whatever it is, I'm glad I caught it on camera. (This is for all you band boy slash fans out there.)
Oh, how the crowd screamed when they came back for the encore. My ears popped twice. Konstantine went by way too fast. The eleven minutes seemed like mere seconds. The girl next to me cried the entire time they played it.
My one regret is not bringing my SLR. I took all these pictures with my friend's Coolpix. While it's a good camera, it doesn't compare to my Rebbie. I was completely unfamiliar with it, and most of the pictures from the first half of the show had to be deleted. I got the hang of it later on. So please excuse the horrendous quality. It was a perfect night otherwise. I only wish there were more nights like these.
